Quality business on show floor reported by exhibitors.

CIBTM (, the leading Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings exhibition, which took place from 17-19 September at the China National Convention Centre (CNCC) Beijing, has announced that 4,088 visitors including Hosted Buyers attended the event - an increase of 28% of international Hosted Buyers and 21% in the number of countries represented by international exhibitors.

With CIBTM attracting a growing number of international MICE attendees from China, these figures – together with the reported high level of satisfaction in the quality of the meetings that took place – highlight the continued growth of the meetings and events industry across China.

Jacqui Timmins, Exhibition Director CIBTM and AIME, Reed Travel Exhibitions, comments: “We are delighted with the level of business which has been achieved this year and we have received a great deal of positive feedback so far from our exhibitors. This feedback highlights how effective the CIBTM Hosted Buyer programme is in generating business for buyers and suppliers from across the globe.”

The South Africa National Convention Bureau had three great days at the show with jam-packed diaries converting a ton of leads for the destination. We look forward to CIBTM 2015.”

Leticia Gonzalez, International Sales Manager of Intercontinental Berlin, and first time exhibitor commented: “CIBTM definitely plays a vital role in setting the foundation and offering the framework to facilitate business growth in China. This is the first time we are exhibiting at CIBTM and we have been delighted with the response. It is perfectly organised, with a good selection of Hosted Buyers. This event has been the best place for us to promote the specific products and services customised for our Chinese guests. Next year, this trade show is a must again!”

Ms. May Chow, Area Director of Sales & Marketing of Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality adds: “CIBTM 2014 was another successful trade show for us. This is the third year Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality has attended CIBTM. This time we tripled our exhibition space and showcased the unique brand essence and MICE strength of MGM Grand Sanya & The Diaoyutai Boutique Chengdu. CIBTM provides an ideal platform for us to connect with the top buyers from China, Asia and the rest of the world and we received significant sales leads within the three days. We are looking forward to returning in 2015.”

Emma Feng, Shanghai Liaison Officer of The Okura Hotel Group, and a returning exhibitor says: “I think this year’s show has once again been successfully organised by the team at Reed Travel Exhibitions. It is our third year at CIBTM and we have again met with a high quality of Hosted Buyers. We feel we were able to increase our brand awareness in the Chinese market and are expecting more business to come in the future, thanks to CIBTM.”

This year’s Knowledge Programme featured a number of pioneering speakers through partnerships with some of the world’s leading industry associations including MPI, SITE, ASAE, ICCA and IAEE. CIBTM 2014 delivered a 22% increase in the number of topical sessions within the Programme and 1021 delegates attended to gain insight and learn of industry trends and best practice.

Statistical analysis and research data for the future growth trends of the meetings industry in China were also highlighted, with a dedicated China MICE Buyer’s Report and The Venue Trends Report (presented by Rob Davidson of the MICE Knowledge consultancy).

Jacqui Timmins concludes “The success of CIBTM 2014 shows that the event continues to be one of the leading trade shows for meetings and events organisers, venue providers and incentive and business travel services in China and Asia and as a team, we are committed to developing the show further through strategic partnerships and new innovations to ensure that the show continues to catalyze an already booming industry in China.”
