ASIAN BUYERS CONFIRM DEMAND FOR OUTBOUND BUSINESS INTO EUROPE

Recent research conducted by Reed Travel Exhibitions has identified Germany, France, UK, Italy, Spain and Switzerland to be among the top ten destinations (outside of Asia) selected by Asian meetings planners attending CIBTM (www.cibtm.com), as a preferred destination for holding out bound MICE events.

Jeffrey Xu, CIBTM Event Director, Reed Travel Exhibitions commented, “Things are looking very positive for next year with nearly two thirds of Asian buyers from our survey reporting an increase in the volume of events they were involved in over the past 12 months. To add to this, 72% also predict use of new destinations over the next 12 months which is a very positive indicator for European companies considering their participation at the show.”

European exhibitors who have already confirmed their attendance at CIBTM 2013 include Madrid Convention Bureau, Switzerland Tourism, and Vienna Convention Bureau who are each returning following exhibiting at previous editions of the show. In addition to this, B-Com Event Technologies and SkyTeam Airline Alliance Management Cooperatie UA have signed up to attend the event for the first time this year.

Mar de Miguel, General Manager at Madrid Visitors & Convention Bureau and returning exhibitor said, “One of the main factors for us, when deciding to exhibit at CIBTM for the first time in 2012, was the access that the show provides to the Chinese tourism sector, and the advantages that this could provide for Madrid as a leading MICE city in Europe.”

“In terms of business China is a major market for Madrid, this is why we consider CIBTM 2013 to be such an important event. We are very satisfied with the contacts that we made at CIBTM last year, they have each generated business, and strengthened relationships, between Madrid’s MICE professionals and the Chinese buyers,” finished de Miguel.

Barbara Steuri-Albrecht, Director for the Switzerland Convention & Incentive Bureau who willalso be exhibiting at CIBTM 2013 commented, “We had a great show at CIBTM 2012, all of the Chinese buyers were very interested in doing business. We are getting more and more incentive groups from the pharmaceutical, automotive, insurance and finance sectors. We will certainly be back at CIBTM in 2013.”
